Jose Rene E. Mondejar, Sr. was the founding architect of JE Mondejar Computer College. The institution traces its origins to 1990, when he initiated modular computer literacy programmes in response to the growing relevance of information technology in education and industry. At a time when computer training was still emerging in the region, his initiative provided accessible technical education and laid the foundation for future institutional growth.
In 1993, the academic programme expanded formally under the name JE Mondejar Computer School, offering associate-level courses in Computer Secretarial and Computer Technology. Recognising the need for structured higher education in computing and business disciplines, he guided the institution through a period of academic consolidation and organisational development.
In 1995, the institution was reconstituted as JE Mondejar Computer College, marking a significant structural transition. That same year, the College introduced its core baccalaureate programmes: the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Management. This milestone reflected a broadened institutional mandate and strengthened academic framework.
Further expansions in 2000 diversified the College’s technical education portfolio, and in 2008 the establishment of the pre-elementary, elementary, and secondary departments created a comprehensive educational continuum from early childhood through tertiary education.
Jose Rene E. Mondejar, Sr. passed away in 2019. Following his passing, leadership of the institution was assumed by his wife, Lucita D. Mondejar, who serves as the current President of JE Mondejar Computer College. Under her stewardship, the College continues to uphold its founding principles while advancing institutional development, academic standards, and community engagement.
